- 01Is the free plan actually free?
- Yes. Basic is free to install and isn't a trial — you get two AI-enabled languages and ten thousand AI-translated words that never expire. Bulk translation, SEO and URL translation, the language and currency widget, and unlimited manual edits are all included at zero cost.
- 02What happens when I run out of AI-translated words?
- Nothing breaks. Every translation you've already published stays live on your storefront, and unlimited manual edits are included on every plan — so you can keep refining copy by hand. To resume machine translation, move to a plan with a larger monthly allowance.
- 03Do manual edits count against my word allowance?
- No. The allowance covers AI-translated words only. Manual edits are unlimited on every plan, including Basic, which means you can override the engine line by line on the phrases where wording actually matters without spending anything.
- 04Can I use my own translation API key?
- Yes, from the Business plan upward. Bring your own key for DeepL, DeepSeek, or ChatGPT and Lokalize will route translations through your account, which is usually the cheaper path once you're translating at high volume.
- 05Is translated SEO metadata included, or is it an add-on?
- Included on every plan, Basic included. Lokalize translates meta titles, descriptions, and URL handles, and sets up the hreflang signals that tell Google which language version belongs to which market. It's not gated behind a higher tier.
- 06Does the currency switcher cost extra?
- No. The combined language and currency widget ships with every plan. It detects the shopper's location, converts prices at live exchange rates, and can be restyled to match your theme.
- 07Can I change or cancel my plan later?
- Any time, from inside the app. Billing runs through Shopify on your regular store invoice, so there's no separate subscription to manage and no contract to exit.
